Besides being named one of the top ten most livable cities in the world, Kyoto is also a major center of culinary delights offering a variety of opportunities to not only try traditional Japanese cuisine but also experiment with some of the most creative and bold fusion restaurants anywhere in the world.
Ever since I left Rome back in the early 1980’s, every time I return I tend always to go back to the same old restaurants that served my favorite dishes, or were located in my favorite neighborhoods around the city.
… but should you have the opportunity, you are in for one of the most exquisite and delightful culinary experiences that one can find in Rome – though in this case you will have to do some serious Google Mapping to find this place since it is in the outskirts of Rome. Less than an hour west, towards the sea and not more than an hour from downtown Rome, the trip is easily made by car or taxi.
I realize most of my recent posts have focused on the Los Angeles food scene, but this city has started in recent years, to offer some of the most exciting dining experiences in the country. The foodie “in-the-know” will continue to taut the diversity and excellence of New York, Chicago or even Portland, which has become another food mecca on the west coast.
Matteo Ferdinandi patrols the dining room with the the look of someone who cares deeply about what is being served in his restaurant – as he should since Factory Kitchen is one of the best things that has happened on the Los Angeles culinary scene to truly show off the elevated quality of Italian cuisine.
I have never been a fan of celebrity chefs.
Inevitably, every time I have gone to one of their famed establishments, it has been a bitter disappointment.
